I have drank wine before...a couple of times...I have tried different kinds and found that I only have ever liked the sweet wines...like Moscato. I really dislike dry wines, but maybe just need to get used to them first? I am definitely not someone who sniffs the wine and swishes it around in my mouth...but I do like the flavor of some wines.
Well, today (yesterday now), while on the great camping adventure, we decided to go to a vineyard and sample sample wines. This is only the second time that I have ever visited a vineyard, and the first was many, many years ago.
The vineyard that we stopped at is called Heaven Boutique Winery, located in Fayette, IA. The scenery is amazing, this part of Iowa is unlike a lot of other areas of the state. There are many hills and bluffs which are common in the Driftless Area (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driftless_Area.
This is one of the most picturesque areas of the Midwest and one of my favorite areas that we have visited in the country. This winery sits among rolling hills, cornfields and grape vines...it is a cool looking place for sure!
There was a bunch of stuff below this, but it was 3am and I was tired...so I may have forgotten to save the Blog...😥
I will try to go back and add to this later today.
Update:
The winery has a cute little shop area where about 10ish people can stand comfortably. The menu is a chalk board with the options that are available to purchase by the glass and taste test (we were allowed to sample 3 of the options). We decided that the sweet wine, Love is Love made by this Winery was our favorite so ordered a bottle of this to take out to one of the seating ares. There was a nice breeze blowing through and it made the 90°F day seem a little less hot as we sat under the covered area.
Tammy ended up drinking a slushie as my parents and I downed the bottle of wine we had picked out. We took some pictures, drank some wine and had a great time! We also ended up getting a second bottle of wine (Rattlesnake Red from Covered Bridge Winery) which was a semi-sweet wine. Not as good as the first wine, but still very tasty! Tammy had another slushie, this time the Campfire Hooch (this was my favorite slushie flavor) and we finished off the bottle of wine! I was feeling a bit tipsy at this point!
Tammy went to get pictures of grapes and check out the vineyard which can be seen in the picture above. It was a very nice place and the host (owner) was super friendly and made recommendations based off of the wines that we had liked. She talked about the history of the winery as well as that of some other local wineries with is for a bit and did an amazing job of interacting with the different groups that were tasting and ordering.
We had an amazing time! Probably drank too much wine (I ended up going to bed at like 6:30pm!) and that led to the issue above where I forgot to save the Blog post where I had written a ton. I'll need to remember not to try posting at 3am!
