Ok...I am really into Sci-Fi lately...and this time I checked out the movie "Nope" from director Jordan Peele.
If you have seen a trailer for this film, you get the general idea about the plot of the film...UFOs and Cowboys (horse ranchers to be more specific)...
If you have seen any of Jordan Peele 's other films...you know what kind of "feel" the film will have.
If you haven't seen a trailer or watched a Jordan Peele film...well...you should check this out and then go watch "Us" and "Get Out" once finishing this one!
This film starts out with an opening sequence that would seem to not make sense, but as the film progresses, the scene is explained in more and more detail. The chimp in a hat with blood on it really had me asking myself from the start, "What is going on here?" I really enjoyed the way that this little piece of the story played out. 🤜🤛
We meet OJ, a horse farmer, after this little opening sequence and he has a strange encounter on his horse farm that leads to his sister (Em) returning to the family farm and then sinister encounters begin to intensify. Em tries to take advantage of these events to make money by trying to capture a photo of a UFO and reaching out to other characters to assist in this little endeavor.
Things get a bit wild as there are some definite edge of your seat moments in this film and dark, foggy scenery helps to really push the film towards that "scary" film feel a bit.
One of my favorite parts is when Steven Yuen's (Glenn from The Walking Dead) character, hosts a UFO sighting event. This scene was just super cool
Overall, I really enjoyed this movie! It was exciting, had me asking questions and then definitely delivered some eye popping scenes (the rain storm at the house comes to mind) throughout the film!
